Phelps Hospital’s Emergency Department treats more than 28,500 patients each year. About 5,000 of these patients arrive at Phelps thanks to our EMS providers: our Paramedics and EMTs who provide safe and exceptional transport and treatment to patients in the community we share.

Our EMS colleagues are always in transit; their work is defined by it. They safely transport a patient to Phelps, complete the required hand-off and documentation that supports patient safety and then head to their next call. Often, there is no space for them to take a breather or enjoy a cup of coffee.

Phelps Hospital seeks to build a welcome lounge in our Emergency Department for our EMS colleagues. This lounge will offer them refreshments, an area to complete the required documentation and space to take a break.  It will be conveniently located adjacent to the ambulance entrance in Phelps Emergency Department
